The two allegedly hooked up after the shy and retiring prince gatecrashed Imbruglia’s birthday party at the Kensington Roof Gardens in London recently.

The pair have been texting each other ever since, according to the NME.

Imbruglia split up with Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns in 2008.

Goodbye Woolies, Hello Redvers Downs

Filed under: Press — admin @ 4:07 pm

The news that Woolworths, beloved of the high street for almost a century, has gone into administration must be sending shockwaves throughout the music industry. Once a major player in the distribution of music, it is now one of the largest high street casualties of the recession so far.

Hit by competition from supermarkets and online music retailers such as Redvers Downs, 30,000 jobs have been called into question as Woolworths was valued at just £18m, while being saddled with £385m of debt.

The problem has been compounded by the growth of iTunes and Myspace with the availability of cheap, immediate online music and by artists such as Redvers Downs who independently market and sell their own music online through fully e-commerce websites.

JJ Kane of the Big Red Caravan commented: ‘It’s a real shame but it’s been on the cards for a while, stores like Woolies just can’t compete with internet savvy fans who would prefer to go direct to the artist from the comfort of their own home. As a PR Company we are seeing this shift in consumerism’.

Damon Emerson, Creative Director at Redvers Downs said: ‘With artists releasing their music for free or selling directly to their fans, the role of the traditional music store for CD sales is redundant. We dismissed this route at the beginning of the year - preferring to team up with like-minded brands and sponsors for mutual benefit, whilst releasing our music independently through our website.’

You know that the music industry is changing when a 100 year old high street stalwart such as Woolworths may have to close its doors before Christmas.
