The ‘Love Lockdown’ star - who was criticised for his heavy use of the vocal-perfecting software on current album ‘808’s and Heartbreak’ - claims he doesn’t mind the ‘99 Problems’ rapper employing different techniques on his long-awaited ‘Blueprint 3′ record.
Kanye - who has produced Jay-Z’s album - told MTV News: “We actually removed all the songs with auto-tune off of his album to make the point that this is an anti-auto-tune album, even though I released an album that has all auto-tune!
“It doesn’t matter to me. It’s music; it’s just sonics. I like auto-tune so I do it, but you want the other thing - like you’ll wear a suit to a wedding and gym shoes to a basketball game. I think it’s a perfect moment for Jay to provide some gym shoes to a basketball game right now.”
Kanye insists fans won’t be disappointed by Jay-Z’s album, insisting it is worth the wait.
He added: “Jay is in control of everything in his domain. He’s just been working on it, and it’s gonna be amazing when he drops it. I think it’s good he’s taking his time to give people the best product possible and not being rushed by this fast-food, media-outlet, Internet, everything-is-getting-leaked, people-stealing your-songs-before-you-can-mix-them-and-put-them-online world we’re living in right now.”
Michael Eavis and daughter Emily Eavis, who book bands for the world-famous music event - which takes place in Somerset next month - say they have booked a “huge” band but are scared to let fans know who the mystery act is in case they attract too many people wanting to watch their set.
Emily Eavis revealed to BBC 6 Music: “There’s a really top surprise on The Park stage which will definitely not come out because otherwise we’d have a health and safety issue. You can start guessing.
“I don’t think it will ever be announced. It will just happen for those people that happen to be there, hopefully for the people that are fans of the band.”
This year’s Glastonbury will be headlined by Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Blur.
Other acts on the bill include Lily Allen, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Status Quo, Will Young, The Prodigy, Kasabian and Fleet Foxes.
The British rockers - who performed together on Saturday (16.05.09) at London’s Rhythm Factory for the first time in five years - now plan to make their reunion permanent and record together next year.
When Carl Barat was asked if the band - also consisting of Pete Doherty and Gary Powell - would perform any more impromptu concerts in the future, he said he wouldn’t dismiss the idea, but wants to hold out for a more concrete reunion.
He hinted: “I can’t rule it out, but I’d rather save it. That’s not to say I won’t get on stage with Pete at some point soon.
“Next year is a new year. We’ll see what happens.”
Carl and Pete are currently working on their solo careers before they regroup.
Pete recently said: “I’ve written and recorded a solo album, there’s probably another one on the way. There’s an amazing Babyshambles record coming too and The Libertines is going to happen.”
The Libertines formed in 1997 and released two critically-acclaimed albums.
The band had a volatile history, centered around Pete and Carl’s love/hate relationship. They split up in 2004 shortly after Carl forced Pete to leave because of his heroin addiction.
The British rockers - who will release ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’ on June 8 - chose the complex title after being inspired by a television documentary.
Guitarist Serge Pizzorno said: “It’s just to get people on their toes and say, ‘What’s this all about?’.
“I saw this mad documentary on this place and I was quite interested in these words and I thought it was cool.”
The ‘Empire’ hitmakers also decided to apply this unusual theme to their album cover, which includes images of them wearing period costumes.
Describing the artwork, frontman Tom Meighan said: “I’m Napoleon and Serge is this mad butcher priest. It’s a reflection of ourselves. If we were back in the day, it would be who we’d be. They’re just characteristics coming out of us.”
Serge added to BBC Newsbear: “We’re getting ready to go to the fancy dress ball at the asylum. We just fancy taking a photo of ourselves whilst we’re getting ready.”
The American rockers - whose latest LP ’21st Century Breakdown’ was released last week -say they admire the rapper’s creativity and musical ideas.
Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said: “Looking at a guy like Eminem, the way he put his records out and how he does from character to character and how a lot of hip-hop artists use different names, conceptually, I think that’s really important to put into records.”
Billie Joe particularly enjoys listening to the hip-hop star’s records because of Eminem’s lyrical story-telling and ability to relate his records to his fans.
He explained: “I think that’s why a lot of hip-hop records become so eventful. All of a sudden a character will come up, a dialogue will come up.
The ambition of a lot of hip-hop records have, that’s something I can relate to.”
Eminem’s eagerly-anticipated sixth studio album ‘Relapse’ was also released last week.
The ‘Brianstorm’ hitmakers have revealed their eagerly-anticipated third musical offering will have a sound similar to Ozzy Osbourne’s iconic heavy metal group.
Frontman Alex Turner claims the band - also consisting of Jamie Cook, Matt Helders and Nick O’Malley - were inspired to pen several tracks after partying at last summer’s Latitude Festival in Southwold, Suffolk.
He said: “We went to Latitude, ripped it up, wrote on our faces and eventually wrote some songs. We spent the first day there working on the most complicated riff you’ve ever heard. It goes round in seven-and-a-half time. We used it in the end, it’s on an intro. It was like Black Sabbath.”
The band - from Sheffield, South Yorkshire - confirmed they plan to release the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ before they headline the Reading and Leeds Festivals this August.
Arctic Monkeys are also due to perform at a string of European festivals in Poland, Croatia, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands this summer.
As part of drummer Matt Helders’ video diaries, we see footage of the Sheffield band during recording sessions for the album.
Also in the video Helders reveals that he is set to see Girls Aloud live soon, and that new friend P. Diddy may be heading to the UK to party with them when they headline the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August.
The rapper, who releases comeback album ‘Relapse’ this week, played the intimate show in front of 2,000 lucky fans at the Soundboard stage in the MotorCity Casino Hotel.
Taking the stage at 3am, he played a brief 30 minute set that comprised new material, ‘Lose Yourself’ and other old classics. He was joined onstage by Denuan ‘Kon Artis’ Porter’ and DJ Alchemist.
Earlier that day, the Mr Mathers had given away the last few tickets through Twatter.
Alison McDaniel says she was forced to watch porn by Timberlake’s business partners Eytan Sugarman and Ronnie Kaplan in a locked office at the Southern Hospitality restaurant. They then laughed when she broke down in tears.
Apparently McDaniel was fired after she complained of the harassment in writing.
The album was released before he hit the big time and has since been deleted, but can now be downloaded on Fiddy’s website: Thisis50.ning.com
Eminem releases his new album, ‘Relapse’, on Monday (May 18).
