50 Cent wants to release an album with Eminem.

Filed under: Music — admin @ 3:43 pm

The ‘Candy Shop’ rapper would release an LP with the ‘Lose Yourself’ star “in a heartbeat” - but only if they each wrote half the LP and merged the singles intermittently onto the CD, rather than singing and writing together.
He said: “Unless we was doing something where half of it was his and half of it was mine. And conceptually, maybe if he came up with the first six songs and I built the last six songs and we just featured on each other’s records, you know what I’d mean? We’d do that in a heartbeat.”
However, the 34-year-old hip hop star says their already-hectic work schedules might stop them from collaborating.
50 explained: “I’d love to. We haven’t seriously discussed making an album together, because we would have to sit collectively and create each song.”
Earlier this year, 50 Cent - real name Curtis James Jackson III - said he was thrilled with his friend’s return to the music scene and praised Eminem for his comeback LP ‘Relapse’.
He said: “It’s great. I think you should expect it to go up. I think that the first single ‘We Made You’ was one of his better records lyrically.
Obviously, he felt the same way.

Pete Doherty is set to release a duets album.

Filed under: Music — admin @ 3:42 pm

The Babyshambles rocker has recorded several songs with Scottish singer Dot Allison, and she is keen for them to be made into an LP.
Allison said: “The initial idea that me and Pete had was to make an album of duets. I really hope it will happen. I’ve got a few sketches that Pete and I need to sit down and finish. One of them is finished already, and he’s got lots of stuff on his computer too.”
Allison and Doherty first performed together in 2004, and she recorded the track ‘Sheepskin Tearaway’ - which featured on his solo album ‘Grace/Wastelands’ - with him.
Allison - who fronted 90s band One Love - is no stranger to collaborations.
She has worked with Death in Vegas, Massive Attack, former Stone Roses and now Primal Scream bassist Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield and Paul Weller.
Weller appears on the track ‘Love’s Got Me Crazy’ which is included on Allison’s upcoming LP ‘Room Seven And A Half’.
She said: “Paul texted me out of the blue and was like, ‘Do you want to write a song together?’ I couldn’t believe it! It turned out to be a beautiful love song.”

Glasvegas will live “like ‘The Waltons’” when they work on their next album.

The Scottish rockers are currently clearing their schedules to enter the studio to work on their new record and say they will behave like the clean-cut TV family to get the LP done.
Frontman James Allen said: “We’re touring with U2 in summer, then Kings of Leon in America, then I’m going to stay in Los Angeles.
“Going to put down the demos, got to buy a house, the band are coming over, we’ll be like The Waltons.”
The singer said writing for the album is going well and the group hope to release the record next spring.
He added: “I’ve been putting them all down and writing the ideas. I’ve got a typewriter and it’s been quite nice to put down the words and all that.
“We’ll do the demos and then we’ll just record at Christmas-time or early January.
“Hopefully by the time the leaves are grown on the trees and the daffodils are starting to bloom, that’s when out second child will be born.”

Jack White says illegal downloading is ruining “the romance” of music.

Filed under: Music — admin @ 3:41 pm

The Raconteurs, White Stripes and Dead Weather star – who has just launched his own online music service, The Vault – insists obtaining tracks without permission is ruining the music industry.
He said: “A quick look at sales figures for albums will show anyone with a brain that there’s no doubt the world has collectively decided that there is nothing wrong with taking music for free and feeling no moral conundrum about it.
“Download culture isn’t a very romantic experience for the fan regarding art, it cheapens it and makes it fast forwardable, and disposable, and a lot of times ignorable.
“That’s a shame for a lot of art and music that isn’t getting the chance that it would if people just left the needle on the record till the end of the side or what have you.”
Despite his views, Jack insists he wouldn’t force them on other people and believes it is his duty to supply fans with the formats they prefer.
He added to BBC Newsbeat: “I’m not a big fan of a lot of these toys actually, but I never like to tell people who want to share the music I create how they can get it.  It doesn’t matter to me if they want an MP3 or an 8-track tape.  It’s the artists duty to work with the listener as much as possible, we are in the art form together. “

Calvin Harris has branded the British Photographic Industry (BPI) “*****” for taking his videos off YouTube.

The ‘I’m Not Alone’ hitmaker was left incensed after his promotional clips – including one for his forthcoming single ‘Ready For The Weekend’ – were taken down from the video sharing website over a “copyright claim” from the trade organisation which represents the UK music industry, He wrote on his Twitter page:  “IT’S MY F**KING SONG YOU ABSOLUTE B******S.
It’s the f**king BPI. F**K YOU ‘The BPI’. What have you ever done for anybody you useless shower of ****.
“The BPI are the worst organisation to ever walk the earth, and their set-up is shambolic, and their online employees are all massive retards. This is unbelievable, and it seems I am completely powerless to do anything. Sony have done nothing, the BPI have done nothing. (sic)”
Calvin – who was particularly annoyed as bootleg versions of the video remained on the site – also took to his Twitter page to ask fans whether he should mime on a forthcoming TV appearance.
He wrote: “Listen, this is a serious question, I’m on that Alan Carr show in a couple of weeks will anybody mind if I MIME? It’ll sound so much better. A lot of people saying ‘don’t mime’ but here’s the thing. When you do a tv show like that you never play fully live its always just live vocal. And the backing track is always mimed. Which works ok if its an indie sounding band but not so good if its electronic. In fact it sounds s**t.
“So for this reason I’m wondering if its a good idea to just mime the whole thing so people get a better idea of what the track sounds like. Fully live works great, as does fully mime. In between is not good, never has been never will be. (sic).”

Gary Numan joined Nine Inch Nails on stage in London.

The veteran electro pop singer made a surprise appearance towards the end of the ‘Head Like A Hole’ rockers’ set at London’s O2 Arena - which frontman Trent Reznor has claimed will be one of their last ever - on Wednesday night (15.07.09).
Trent hailed the guest performer as “vitally important and a huge inspiration” before they performed ‘Metal’ and ‘Cars’ together.
Despite their current tour being billed as the ‘Wave Goodbye’ concerts, Trent - the only permanent member of the group - recently insisted he is not quitting music completely.
He said: “What I specifically said or meant to convey is that NIN as a…live band that’s on the road all the time is stopping.
“I’ve just reached the point where touring has invaded every other aspect of my life. I have a number of projects that are not music-related, which I have put on the back burner for a long time.
“I’d never want to be Gene Simmons, an old man who puts on makeup to entertain kids, like a clown going to work.
“In my paranoia, I fear that if I don’t stop this, it could become that.”

The Clash were set to reform before Joe Strummer died.

The ‘White Riot’ hitmakers had discussed the possibility of performing a short concert when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2003 but scrapped plans when the singer passed away in December 2002.
Drummer Topper Headon revealed: “When we got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Joe wanted us to do four or five numbers there. I said yes, Mick Jones said yes, Paul Simonon was um-ing and ah-ing but in the end the decision was taken out of our hands because Joe died.”
Topper admits he is glad that they never got the chance to perform again as it stops memories of them being tainted.
He explained to NME magazine: “I think Paul was probably right to be sceptical because the only pictures you see of The Clash now are of us as four young, good-looking men with full heads of hair.
“If we’d have played that show you’d have seen Mick being bald, Paul being bald, me being bald and wearing glasses and Joe with a bit of a paunch. It was better the old way.”

Katy Perry is writing a song attacking Lily Allen.

The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ star - who was embroiled in a war of words with the ‘Fear’ singer earlier this year - has promised to “get nasty” when penning tracks for her new album and air opinions she has previously kept suppressed, sparking speculation it will include her feud with the British artist.
She said: “It’s just going to be completely packed with what you want to hear about what I think. Everyone asks me, ‘What do you think about this?
What do you think about that? And about this person?’ I don’t really comment about that in public but I take it to the pen and I get nasty.”
Katy says the record will be more grown up than her debut album, but promises her fans will still be able to relate to her music.
She added to BBC Newsbeat: “I’m looking to make a record that’s more honest and it’s going to be different.
“I’m not trying to alienate my fans necessarily but ‘One of the Boys’ was written from 17 to 23 and now I’m 24 so my perspective on life has changed.
“I’m not looking to make a record about, ‘Hey, I got famous this year and you didn’t… blah blah blah. This relates nothing to you.’
“It might be emotional but I don’t think it’s going to be sad emotional.”

Arctic Monkeys didn’t think their lyrics were good enough to print.

The ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor’ hitmakers have never published their words with their albums and singer Alex Turner admits it is because he didn’t have enough confidence in his abilities.
He said: “I didn’t have the bottle to do it before. Didn’t think they were up to it. But I will do next time.”
The singer is currently living in America with girlfriend Alexa Chung but claims he doesn’t mind if the group’s forthcoming album ‘Humbug’ fails to set US charts alight.
He added: “Does it have an eye in America? Not really.  We’re aware of it.
Them upstairs probably think it’s important but we just have a desire for people to listen to our music.”

Muse’s new album features slap bass.

Filed under: Music — admin @ 10:53 am

The trio decided to use the “uncool” instrument - mostly featured on 80s funk records - on the track ‘Unnatural Selection’, which features on forthcoming LP ‘The Resistance’ because it fitted better than using guitars.
Bassist Chris Wolstenhome revealed: “I know it’s probably not ever been cool to play slap bass. but on that song it just seemed to work, so we kept it in.”
The record -the tracklisting for which was announced on the group’s Twitter page - ends with an epic three-part track, ‘Exogenesis’, and frontman Matt Bellamy admits he had to persuade his bandmates that it was the right way to end the album.
He said: “I kind of had to get the other two to trust me a bit with that one. But I think it’s turned out amazing.”
